The Secretary of State's office is currently seeking applications for the position of Election Assistant. This position requires an individual with strong communication skills, the ability to multitask, work efficiently and independently in a very fast paced environment . The team manages all aspects of South Dakota elections. The Election Assistant is the first point of contact for all the election calls and will assist the Election Team in many areas.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Answer phones.
  • Work closely with Election Team staff on various election projects and duties.
  • Assist elected officials, the public and election officials with questions.
  • Assist with planning the SOS County Auditor workshops and webinar trainings.
  • Assist with special projects or assignments as needed.
  • Responsible for records management.
  • Assist with processing voter file purchases and payments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of:
  • Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and other desktop tools.

This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.
