JOB SUMMARY
Enforce the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) and the City electrical ordinances through examination of plans and onsite inspections of industrial, commercial and residential construction.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or GED certification with a minimum of six (6) years’ experience as an electrician with two (2) of those years as a journeyman electrician in commercial, residential, and/or industrial electrical installations; or any such combination of education, experience, and training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority.
Must possess or be able to obtain prior to hire a valid driver’s license.
Must possess or be able to obtain electrical inspector’s license from the South Dakota Electrical Commission within one year (12 months) of hire. An electrical inspector certification from the International Association of Electrical Inspectors or the International Code Council is desirable.

The City participates in the South Dakota Retirement System. Employees receive a 6% match. Additionally, employees may choose to enroll in a Deferred Compensation Plan.
