POSITION SUMMARY

The Electrical Technician will be required to work cross-functionally between engineering and production to diagnose, program, and repair electrical system and electrical component issues associated with fire trucks and related equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

All employees are required to support Rosenbauer’s Mission, Vision, and Values. The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.

  1. Troubleshoot DC and AC electrical systems on fire apparatus.
  2. Program and update electrical control modules.
  3. Read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.
  4. Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve issues.
  5. Repair wiring, programming, and component issues on fire apparatus.
  6. Remove and install components using hand and power tools.
  7. Test vehicle functions to ensure they work in compliance with industry and customer standards.
  8. Reference manufacturer manuals and schematics to diagnose and repair issues.
  9. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the company.

Tools to be utilized:

Multimeter, computer, crimping tools, vendor specific diagnostic software, hand/power tools, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’S):

Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience:

  • Technical certification in automotive or diesel technology preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical diagnostics and repair, preferably in heavy-duty trucks or commercial vehicles required.
  • Strong understanding of 12V and 24V electrical systems required.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software (e.g., OEM diagnostic platforms) required.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail required.

Skills:

Language:

  • Able to find, read, and interpret relevant scientific and technical documentation and standards.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions and communicate new information that could affect project trajectories.

Math:

  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Computer:

  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Suite required.
  • Experience with Visio and schematic drawing software required.
  • Able to use diagnostic tools and software.

Abilities:

  • Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed.
  • Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.

Driving- license

Hours of work- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally
