JOB SUMMARY

The City of Sioux Falls is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Industrial Electrician to join our integrated electrical team supporting both the Water Purification and Water Reclamation facilities, including wells, reservoirs, and pump station equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of infrastructure that protects public health and the environment.

The Industrial Electrician will perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment used across both facilities. Work includes three-phase motors, industrial control systems, process equipment, and a variety of electrical components essential to treatment operations.

The electrician will be part of a combined electrical group housed at the Water Reclamation facility, with daily work assignments coordinated through this team while supporting operational needs at both divisions.

We are looking for a proactive team member with strong problem-solving skills, a dedication to safety, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality infrastructure. Your work will directly support the delivery of clean drinking water and the responsible treatment of wastewater—critical services for our community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or GED certification and must be a journeyman electrician certified by the state of South Dakota and the City of Sioux Falls; or any such combination of education, experience, and training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority.

Must possess or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire a valid Class B commercial driver’s license.

Possession of valid City and State Electrical Contractor’s Licenses is mandatory for the C42 level position.
