The South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation is seeking an
Employment Consultant to provide services focused on our National Recruitment State Workforce Initiative.
This position will:
- Engage and work with out-of-state applicants virtually to assist them with their employment and relocation goals.
- Support applicants and participants nationwide in developing employment plans, setting goals and objectives that lead to a successful relocation.
- Partner with DLR staff, local businesses, Chambers of Commerce, and Economic Development organizations to provide guidance and education on relocation processes and best practices.
- Document all case management activities.
This is a full time (40 hours per week) position with the Department of Labor & Regulation. It will be supervised remotely, and the selected candidate will work onsite in a typical office environment. For more information on the Department of Labor & Regulation, please visit https://dlr.sd.gov/ .
Licenses and Certifications:Preferred candidate will have a Gold National Career Readiness Certificate.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
A strong desire to help out-of-state talent discover, pursue, and secure opportunities in South Dakota by providing proactive support, demonstrating strong initiative, and anticipating needs. Experience with interstate relocation or related support services is a plus.
Knowledge of:- workforce programs, including WIOA;
- relocation programs in South Dakota; and
- interviewing, placement, and counseling techniques.
Skill to: - communicate information plainly and engagingly to job seekers and businesses;
- meet new people and establish professional partnerships;
- complete high-quality work with appropriate technology (examples: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, SharePoint, webinars, online surveys/forms);
- host outreach events across the state to promote the program and its relocation benefits;
- demonstrate effective time management principles to plan, schedule, and manage multiple tasks;
- maintain confidentiality; and
- have a strong initiative and attention to detail.
