The South Dakota Department of the Military has a perfect opportunity for you as a
Project Manager.
We are seeking a self-motivated, determined, positive individual whom within the last 5 years or less, graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering. The successful applicant will be a member of our project management team located in Joint Force Headquarters on Camp Rapid, Rapid City, SD.
Team members in this position will utilize AutoCAD software to develop construction plans for smaller projects within a wide variety trades, manage design and construction of capital improvement projects ranging from $100K up to $30M+, review and recommend approval of construction plans and technical specifications, ensure construction plans and technical specifications comply with Federal and State regulations, codes, and standards, provide construction observation and inspection of building projects to ensure compliance with construction plans and technical specifications, coordinate with other engineers, consultants, and various stakeholders to facilitate participation in project design and construction.
This is a 40-hour per week position with a work week schedule consisting of four, 10-hour days, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. Alternate work schedules may be considered and approved. Work is completed in a typical office environment, but will include oversight of projects throughout the State of South Dakota, requiring occasional overnight travel.

The total compensation of Hourly Wage + State/Federal Benefits for a typical year for entry level Project Manager is approximately $85,750.00 annually.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge:
- standard terminology, techniques, and practices of drafting and graphical designs;
- engineering and scientific principles, practices, and methods
Skills:
- access, operate, and maintain various software applications (i.e., Microsoft based software, AutoCAD, BlueBeam and ArcGIS);
- read and interpret construction plans, technical specifications, and regulatory documents.
Abilities:

Position Requirements: Currently have a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering OR graduate in the winter of 2025 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering for entry-level position.
Only applicants with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related will be considered. Engineer (E-1): a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field with a desire to learn and design. Engineer (E-2): a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field plus 1-3 years of progressive education, training, and experience equivalent to a Level 2 in the Engineering Career Family.
Valid driver's license.
Must pass a National Security Check.
