Job Description

Join our team at East River Electric Power Cooperative! We are seeking an Engineering Technician who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and enthusiastic about supporting the reliable operation and development of our electric transmission system. In this role, you will assist with technical drawings, records, mapping, staking information, construction documentation, and other engineering support activities that help us continue delivering reliable and affordable wholesale power to our members.

At East River Electric Power Cooperative we're dedicated to providing reliable and affordable wholesale power to our members across 40,000 square miles of service area. As a not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative, we provide electricity to 24 rural electric distribution cooperatives and one municipally owned electric system serving eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota. Our members, in turn, power the lives of the member-owners in their service territories.

What You'll Accomplish

  • Keep engineering drawings, maps, staking sheets, records, and project documents accurate, organized, and up to date.
  • Help with technical design, layouts, and documentation for cooperative facilities and projects.
  • Support the engineering team by gathering data, preparing field notes, maintaining construction records, and helping keep project information moving forward.
  • Work with employees across departments, member systems, and other partners to gather details, verify information, and make sure technical records are complete and reliable.
  • Use engineering, mapping, and documentation tools to support project workflows and make information easy for others to access and use.
  • Contribute to construction, maintenance, and improvement projects by helping prepare charts, maps, sketches, specifications, material lists, and other technical documents.

Showcase Your Knowledge, Abilities, and Expertise. Do you have?

  • An associate degree in engineering technology, drafting, GIS, surveying, construction, electric utility operations, or a related technical field
  • A strong eye for detail and the ability to read, understand, and maintain technical information accurately
  • Comfort using computer applications and a willingness to learn engineering, mapping, or drafting software
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to build positive working relationships and work well with others across teams
  • A commitment to working safely, staying accurate, supporting the team, and providing dependable service
  • Certifications or training in drafting, GIS, surveying, construction, or related technical software are a plus
  • Valid driver's license
