Alliance Construction is one of Sioux Falls premier earthwork and general contractors whose team members go the extra mile to ensure smooth completion of projects. We employ great individuals seeking experience working for a company that offers a path for growth and supports individual growth in a Team environment. Our next objective is to tackle large diameter pipe. We are looking to expand our team and company by opening our time and resources to the large pipe most other's prefer to not touch.
Position Purpose:
As an estimator, you'll actively seek and pursue potential market bidding opportunities through supplier relationships, published bid advertisements, and othervariable resources.
A Day in the Life of an Estimator
Monitors bid advertisement websites for opportunities appropriate to our company's areas of expertise with a high likelihood of success
Uses the HCSS Heavy Bid program and industry knowledge to create competitive bids by required deadlines. (Open to other platforms as well)
Attends mandatory, non-mandatory pre-bid meetings and other location site visits to acquire information related to project specifications to determine conditions, potential equipment, material quantities, and subcontractor needs
Sources pricing through known supplier relationships and establish local resources appropriate to the project
Reviews in detail contracts and other project documents of projects upon successful project award
Provides continued support to the Project Management teams to complete the project
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- 2+ years experience in heavy civil underground utilities construction estimating large pipe jobs
- A construction estimating/project management background
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
- Thorough knowledge of legal issues and safety standards is essential
- Computer proficiency, including the use of Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Familiarity with HCSS Heavy Bid and Heavy Job preferred
- Must be able to travel to job sites throughout the United States
- Practical written and verbal communication skills
- High math aptitude
The right candidate should be able to work well in a team environment and possess excellent communication skills. They should be organized, self-motivated, a fast learner, and able to multitask and meet deadlines. They should also have a comprehension of construction processes, including familiarity with construction materials and estimating quantities.
