The Minnehaha Country Club in South Dakota is celebrating our 118th year of operations, and we are currently seeking team-oriented restaurant cooks with passion for food to join our team.  Minnehaha Country Club operates two full-service, year-round restaurants, as well as a robust on-site catering/events operation.  We currently have opportunities for two casual cooks to work primarily evening shifts; these positions are available immediately for the successful candidates.  Minnehaha Country Club is Sioux Falls’ premier country club, operates year-round and serves membership of approximately 740 families.  The Club features an immaculate championship 18-hole golf course and one of the finest restaurants in the region, as well as swimming, tennis, and fitness amenities.

Our casual dining cook will report to the casual dining sous chef and well cook for primarily evening a la carte service, assist in prepping the kitchen and maintaining a clean and safe environment.  Minnehaha Country Club offers the opportunity to work with a wide variety of products and scratch-cooking techniques, and this is an incredible opportunity for the successful candidate to embark on, or further advance a career in culinary arts.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Casual dining cooks are full-time and have a starting wage of $16.00 - $18.00 based on skills and experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares all food from menu using standard recipes in accordance with club standards; identifies and requisitions products needed for service.
  • Maintains all supplies and small wares needed for dinner service.
  • Sets-up, maintains and breaks-down cook station.
  • Ensures that work area and equipment are clean and sanitary.
  • Covers, dates, and neatly stores re-usable leftover products.
  • Notifies sous chef in advance of expected shortages.
  • Maintains security and safety in work area.
  • Adheres to local and state health and food safety standards.
  • Assists with other duties as required by management. 
  • Attends staff meetings.

Knowledge, Experience and Abilities

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Prior prep/cooking experience in a professional kitchen required; resort or private club experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to read, write and communicate verbally in English.  Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Maintains the highest food safety standards.
  • Follows all safety procedures for operating and cleaning machinery.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce all assigned menu items according to the club’s standard recipes.
  • Helps in other areas of the kitchen during slow periods or when necessary.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
  • Push, pull or lift to 50 pounds.
  • Continuous repetitive motions.
  • This is a typical professional kitchen work environment, which may be hot, humid, and noisy.
