Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt
Salary Range: 50-75k Depending on qualifications and experience.

Job Summary

The De Smet Development Corporation (DDC) is hiring an Executive Director to lead economic growth initiatives in De Smet, SD. This role focuses on business attraction, entrepreneurship, workforce development, and quality-of-life improvements. Ideal candidates are passionate about rural development and skilled in building cross-sector partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Strategic Growth: Develop and execute initiatives that drive business attraction, retention, workforce development, and quality-of-life improvements.

• Build Partnerships & Community Engagement: Foster relationships with local stakeholders, government, and residents to align efforts and promote shared goals.

• Promote De Smet: Serve as the public face of DDC, marketing the community to investors, businesses, and visitors through outreach and digital platforms.

• Manage Operations & Governance: Oversee daily operations, budgeting, grant development, and provide strategic support to the Board of Directors.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent years of experience.

• Experience in management and/or economic development and nonprofit leadership.

• Strong communication, relationship-building, and project management skills.
