The hiring range for a Building Facilities Maintenance Technician is $25.37/hr to $27.98/hr with full earning potential of $36.70/hr.

The hiring range for a Senior Building Facilities Maintenance Technician is $27.98/hr to $30.88/hr with full earning potential of $40.51/hr.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Perform semi-skilled installation, adjustment, and repair work on HVAC equipment. 
  • Maintain and repair boilers, chillers, roof top units, air handling units, VAV boxes, pneumatic controls, and DDC controls.
  • Maintain the electrical and mechanical security systems. Troubleshoot electrical problems and motor controls.
  • Operate equipment including bobcats, forklifts, lawn mowers, trucks, dump trucks, scissor lifts, boom trucks, generators, air compressors, chain hoists, and snow removal equipment.
  • Perform inside and outside building maintenance including remodeling, sheet rocking, and finish carpentry.  Replace and repair tile, carpet, computer flooring, ceiling tile, doors, windows, and overhead garage doors and install and patch cement. 
  • Maintain, repair, and replace institutional locks, keypad locks, key switches, computerized locks, and various types of hardware.
  • Maintain, repair, and replace all types of equipment including grills, fryers, electric and steam ovens, steam tables, etc.

What You Need to Succeed in this Role

High school diploma or GED plus two years of work experience in equipment repair, plumbing, HVAC, or electrical; or a comparable combination of education and experience may be considered for the "Building Facilities Maintenance Technician."  Consideration for appointment as "Senior Building Facilities Maintenance Technician" requires 4 years of relevant work experience or a comparable combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid driver's license and must maintain a safe driving record. Able to participate in a rotating on-call schedule and necessitates carrying a cell phone for availability outside regular hours. Must be accessible throughout their assigned on-call shifts and must refrain from using drugs or alcohol during this time. Must pass a pre-employment background process. Experience with computer-aided statistical software and mapping products. Proficiency in electrical, HVAC, and plumbing principles, as well as repair methods and equipment. Familiarity with relevant codes and regulations. Ability to read blueprints, work independently, and communicate effectively. Willingness to work on-call and maintain a professional demeanor.
