Summary:
The South Dakota Developmental Center is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and community inclusion for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities through person-centered services. The Ideal Candidate Will Have:A strong Facility Worker candidate possess several key qualities, including a strong work ethic, attention to detail, a commitment to a sanitary living and working environment, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of:
- custodial and grounds maintenance duties.
Skills to:
- cleans and sanitizes restrooms;
- scrubs, mops, waxes, and polishes floors using dry and wet mops, wax applicators, and buffers;
- vacuums and shampoos carpets;
- dusts and washes walls, woodwork, ceilings, and windows;
- collects and removes refuse from offices and buildings;
- moves, lifts, carries, and arranges furniture, equipment, and other objects;
- removes ice, snow and debris from sidewalks, streets and grounds to make areas accessible for safe operations;
- conducts basic building maintenance.
Ability to:
- follow directions;
- read and write;
- stand for extended periods of time;
- lift up to 50 pounds.
This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
