Job Description

The Mitchell Catholic Parishes are seeking a passionate and faith-filled individual to serve as our part-time K-6 Faith Formation Coordinator. This position averages 10 to 15 hours per week for 9-10 months of the year. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and day-to-day oversight of the faith formation program for grades K-6, under the direct supervision of the Director of Discipleship and Evangelization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and oversee K-6 parish faith formation and religious education programs in line with Church teachings and traditions.

  • Manage registration, records, and scheduling for K-6 Faith Formation using Ministry Platform, collaborating with the Pastor and the Director of Discipleship and Evangelization.

  • Maintain and update internal and public Faith Formation calendars for K-12.

  • Coordinate with the Pastor and Semper for grades 7-12 continuity and plan seasonal lessons/activities for K-6.

  • Order materials and recruit, train, and support volunteer catechists and staff.

  • Administer Wednesday evening sessions, ensuring safety and logistics.

  • Communicate with families via notes, bulletins, newsletters, and emails; maintain a K-6 liturgical office bulletin board.

  • Organize end-of-year gatherings and service projects

  • First Penance: Order materials, plan lessons and retreats with PES Sisters, conduct parent meetings, verify baptism records, and oversee the event logistics.

  • First Communion: Order materials, schedule lessons and retreats, coordinate with priests and PES Sisters, manage parent meetings and Mass sign-ups, prepare certificates and gifts, and handle event logistics and photos. Deliver Brown Scapular instruction and enrollment for Grade 2 students.

  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to living and sharing the Catholic faith.

  • Knowledge of Church teachings and catechetical principles.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to learn new software programs easily.

  • Ability to pass a background check.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in various settings.
