Financial Coordinator
Siouxland Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is growing and seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Financial Coordinator to join our Accounts Department at our Sioux Falls office.
We are an established, full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery practice with four locations throughout South Dakota. Our team is committed to providing exceptional care to our patients while fostering a positive, collaborative environment for our team members, referring providers, and community.
Position Overview
The Financial Coordinator plays an important role in supporting our Accounts Department and ensuring a positive financial experience for our patients. This position requires a highly organized, dependable, and self-motivated individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Entering patient charges and collecting copayments following surgical procedures
- Assisting patients with scheduling necessary post-operative or follow-up appointments
- Preparing and discussing treatment estimates with patients
- Answering patient questions regarding billing, insurance coverage, and financial responsibilities
- Responding professionally to billing and insurance-related phone calls
- Submitting pre-authorizations for dental procedures and claims
- Verifying and following up on the status of insurance claims
- Preparing and submitting insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner
- Balancing and reconciling accounts at the end of each business day
- Accurately maintaining patient, surgical, and insurance information
- Protecting patient confidentiality and exercising appropriate discretion when handling sensitive information
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous medical or dental billing experience preferred
- Working knowledge of medical and/or dental terminology
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Exceptional telephone etiquette and customer service skills
- Strong grammar, spelling, typing, and proofreading abilities
- The ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently
- Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information
- The ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with physicians, coworkers, management, patients, and referring offices
- The ability to remain organized and composed in a fast-paced environment
