Position Overview
Midwest Fire is seeking a technically driven and detail-oriented Electrical Technician to support the wiring, assembly, and integration of our custom-built fire apparatus. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about advanced vehicle multiplexing and Class 1 ES-Key programming. What You’ll Do
Perform complete 12V and DC/AC wire routing for all truck electrical systems.
Install and terminate 12V lighting, switches, and accessories.
Integrate generators, light towers, and AC accessories.
Install diodes, relays, breakers, and solenoids.
Perform 110/220V (AC) wiring for applicable components.
Read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.
Understand and apply different chassis wiring systems (engine, transmission, multiplex).
Wire and troubleshoot battery systems, ensuring correct power and grounding.
Perform multiplex programming of chassis and apparatus systems.
Assist with plumbing and fabrication work as needed.
Operate forklifts, cranes, and standard shop equipment safely.
Follow company, state, and OSHA safety procedures at all times.
Document non-conformance issues and provide technical feedback for continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or college degree in electrical systems preferred.
Vocational training or equivalent experience in automotive, heavy equipment, or industrial electrical systems considered.
Strong knowledge of 12V and AC wiring systems.
Experience with ES-Key, Power Vision, and IC Systems are strongly preferred.
Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, technical manuals, drawings, work instructions, and safety procedures.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Basic Computer knowledge with the ability to perform programming tasks.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Authorization to work in the United States.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
This position requires standing on concrete for most of the shift and may include walking, climbing, balancing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, crawling and working on or around trucks. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; team lifts are required for items over 50 pounds. The role includes frequent work near mechanical equipment and occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles and low-to-medium noise levels.
