Position Overview
Midwest Fire is seeking a skilled, quality-focused Painter to prepare and finish manufactured fire apparatus components, truck bodies, cabs and related parts. This hands-on role includes surface preparation, priming and finish painting while working safely and efficiently as part of the production team.

What You’ll Do
Prepare surfaces by cleaning, grinding welds, sanding, filling defects and applying protective primer.
Tape, mask and caulk interior and exterior areas in preparation for painting.
Operate paint equipment and spray guns to apply primer and finish coats.
Perform buffing and other finishing work to support a high-quality completed product.
Read and follow work orders, truck specifications, drawings and other technical documents.
Use basic hand and power tools, measuring devices, ladders, and stationary or overhead cranes as required.
Clean and maintain paint equipment and keep the work area orderly.
Work cooperatively with the team, follow direction, meet production schedules and minimize scrap or rework.
Follow all company safety rules, policies and procedures; perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
High school diploma or GED; vocational training or equivalent experience in painting, body work or vehicle repair is preferred.
Ability to use paint equipment, basic hand and power tools, and a tape measure accurately.
Ability to read work orders, drawings, procedures, safety rules and equipment instructions.
Dependable attendance, a productive work ethic and a commitment to quality and safety.
Authorization to work in the United States.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
This position requires standing on concrete for most of the shift and may include walking, climbing, balancing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, crawling and working on or around trucks. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; team lifts are required for items over 50 pounds. The role includes frequent work near mechanical equipment and occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles and low-to-medium noise levels.
