Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Plumbing Technician to support the assembly and installation of pumps and plumbing systems for our custom fire trucks. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and has knowledge of pipefitting, welding, and basic plumbing principles. The Plumbing Technician is responsible for assembling and installing fire truck pumps and related plumbing systems while ensuring all work meets customer specifications. Work is performed using blueprints, technical drawings, and other instructions to ensure the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

What You’ll Do
- Install heat exchangers with valves as needed.
- Install master drain, primer control, pump shift, discharges, rear and front bumper connections, bleeders, and auto drains.
- Weld pipes as needed to complete installations.
- Connect lines to gauge panels.
- Install tank level displays.
- Use conventional and precision measuring instruments effectively.
- Perform process inspections to ensure quality welds.
- Operate TIG welders and plasma cutters on various metals.
- Apply pipefitting and basic plumbing knowledge.
- Read and interpret truck specification documents.
- Operate forklifts, cranes, and standard shop equipment safely.
- Follow company, state, and OSHA safety procedures at all times.
What We’re Looking For
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or college training in plumbing or pipefitting preferred.
Vocational training or equivalent experience in plumbing, fabrication, or shop work considered.
Strong knowledge of pipefitting, welding, and basic plumbing systems.
TIG welding certification preferred.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and work instructions.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
This position requires standing on concrete for most of the shift and may include walking, climbing, balancing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, crawling and working on or around trucks. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; team lifts are required for items over 50 pounds. The role includes frequent work near mechanical equipment and occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles and low-to-medium noise levels.
