Summary of Position
The Food Services Assistant is responsible for assisting with Food Service and Grocery Store activities. This is a
nonexempt position.
Accountability
Reports to the Food Services Manager
Core Responsibilities
1. 8:00 am to 12:00 pm working in Grocery Store
a. Stocking shelves
b. Home deliveries
c. Food boxes
2. 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm working in Kitchen
a. Running dishes through dishwasher
b. Putting away dishes once clean
c. Final clean up in area
Responsibilities
1. Assists Grocery Store Manager with deliveries of groceries to on-campus student housing.
2. Washes, sanitizes and maintains utensils, pots, pans, dishes, silverware and serving trays.
3. Maintains a high degree of sanitation standards and follows all safe handling and food service
requirements, as well as maintains and sanitizes dishwasher and dish room.
4. Notifies the Food Service Manager of maintenance issues or any other issues affecting the cafeteria or
grocery store functions.
5. Performs other responsibilities as required by the Food Service Manager.
Qualifications
• Computer skills preferred
• Obtain SERV SAFE certification as required by the Food Service Manager
• Valid Driver’s License
Physical Demands
• Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
• Occasionally exerts up to 50 lbs. of force.
• Regularly bends, stoops, crouches, and climbs stairs.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
• Uses the abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly over time without becoming
fatigued.
• Uses both hands and wrists repetitively for prolonged periods.
Expectations of Hours Worked
At least 40 hours/week. Occasional hours outside of regular work-week as required by Food Service Manager.
