Position Overview:

Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Forensic Interviewer to conduct specialized interviews with children who are possible victims of child abuse and/or neglect, or witness to violence working with a multi-disciplinary team, in accordance with the organization’s Mission Statement and Core Values. What You Will Do:
  • Client Cases: Consult with investigative team members before, during and after child abuse interviews to ensure the integrity of the interviews. Participate in the case review process and Advisory Board meetings.
  • Scheduling: Maintain weekly schedule of appointments.
  • Report Management: Prepare report based on the interview and submit to the referral agency. Monitor records of interviews, sources of referrals, and disposition of cases. May maintain data for NCA Trak, submitting required data and reports.
  • Judicial Appearances: Testify in criminal and/or juvenile court when appropriate to clarify information obtained during interview with child.
  • Community Relations: Maintain professional relationships with team members from the hospital, pediatrician, law enforcement, States Attorney, DSS, U.S. Attorney, and other referral sources. Advocate to create and support high standards for child abuse investigations in areas receiving services.
  • Professional Development: Maintain required training. Maintain knowledge regarding child abuse issues, both regionally and nationally, and interviewing techniques. Participate in peer review internally and with other CACs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field required.

Experience:
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with children and knowledge of child development.


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, etc. Extended PC viewing and keyboarding required. Extended periods of sedentary work required
