Position Overview:Children's Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Teacher Assistant to provide supervision of and instruction to children as part of a team approach in accordance with the organization’s Mission Statement and Core Values. What You Will Do: - Student Engagement: Assist in conducting classroom activities, preparing instructional materials, providing instruction, review, and practice of skills taught by the Classroom Teacher with individual and small groups of students. Assist in implementing treatment plan and individual education plan methods specific to each child. Assume Classroom Teacher’s duties in his/her absence.
- Student Records: Assist with maintaining classroom and/or student records and documentation and contributes data for progress notes and individual treatment plans.
- Student Relationships: Nurture children through one-on-one communication and care and maintain vigilant supervision. Reinforce instructional/behavioral objectives as needed to maintain an effective classroom learning environment.
- Professional Growth: Provide leadership in efforts to improve the school, student learning and behavior, social skills, and safety.
- Compliance: Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families. Follow Agency and School Policies and Procedures. Support of Agency Goals.

Requirements
Education:- High school diploma/GED required.
Experience:- Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers and software utilized by office.
- References that can depict level of interest in working with children with behavioral issues.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: Must be able to physically restrain a child in ways taught by the Agency while being able to verbally communicate to the child and other staff. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
