Job Description

TranSource Truck & Equipment is a family owned company committed to providing superior service for all brands of commercial truck, construction equipment, trailers, snow removal products and attachments with three sites in South Dakota.

As a key member of the Leadership Team, the General Manager will report to the Owners and assume a strategic role for overseeing and directing dealership location(s) operating activities. As a General Manager, this position must lead by example, develop an engaged team that is committed to providing the highest level of customer service and promoting our organization as a dealership and employer of choice. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the day-to-day responsibility for leading, planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all department related activities of the location. This will include developing, engaging, and managing all department teams, strategic planning, risk management, contracted services and relationships with third-party vendors.

  • Take a lead in formulating the company’s future direction and provide recommendations to strategically enhance the locations performance and business opportunities.
  • Provide leadership for the growth and profitability of our three South Dakota locations and company.
  • Plan for and direct the day-to-day operations of the dealership locations in South Dakota.
  • Ensure efficient and effective operations across all dealership departments, including service, parts, finance and sales.
  • Review performance measures, financial statements with the ownership team to support the locations strategic directions and operation activities.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop department managers and staff to enhance their performance and career growth.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and satisfaction by addressing customer concerns and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner by working with department managers.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and company policies.
  • Work with the leadership team to establish a sound management succession plan that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of the locations.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with our primary manufacturers, suppliers, and industry representatives, in order to maintain a dominant position in the industry.
  • Work with leadership team to implement best practices from a process standpoint to produce best in class results for the dealership.
  • Work with ownership on compliance or other reporting as needed bases on company structure and legal reporting requirements.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a management role within the truck and equipment dealership industry or a related field.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • A well organized, proactive, and self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of dealership operations, including sales, service, parts, and finance.
  • Proficiency in using dealership management software and other relevant tools.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and make informed business decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
