Dakota Wesleyan University is seeking a dedicated and student-centered professional to serve as a Resident Director / Graduate Assistant.
Position Overview
The Resident Director is a live-in position responsible for fostering a living-learning environment that supports students’ interpersonal, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical, and intercultural development. This role is essential in building a strong residential community that aligns with the mission and values of Dakota Wesleyan University.
In addition, the individual will serve as a Graduate Assistant, supporting the operations of a designated sport program or other assigned campus area.
Resident Director Responsibilities
Live on campus and provide leadership within a residence hall community- oversee daily operations and management of an assigned residential hall.
Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive living environment for all residents.
Supervise and mentor Resident Assistants, providing training, guidance, and support to foster their development as student leaders.
Respond to student needs, concerns, and campus incidents as part of an on-call rotation.
Collaborate with campus partners to enhance the residential experience.
Enforce university policies and procedures, maintaining a consistent and fair approach.
Coordinate student move-in and move-out processes, including room assignments and inspections.
Assist with recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of Resident Assistants.
Graduate Assistant Responsibilities
Assist with the daily operations of an assigned sport or campus department.
Support administrative tasks, events, and programming.
Contribute to departmental goals and student engagement initiatives.
Manage sport-specific responsibilities such as maintaining equipment, inventory, and storage.
Assist with community service and fundraising.
Monitor student-athletes' academic progress.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Acceptance into the Master of Arts in Education program at Dakota Wesleyan University required
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
Commitment to student development and community building
Ability to live and work in a campus residential environment
