Grant Financial Specialist

Job Description

This position is responsible for the financial management of grant projects awarded to the USD School of Medicine and the USD School of Health Sciences at the University of South Dakota (USD Health Affairs.) The position provides fiscal oversight and compliance assurance for activities allocated to externally funded grants (sponsored projects.) Awarded projects are sponsored by federal agencies, state agencies, non-profit organizations, and corporations, and all awards must comply with the policies and procedures outlined by the Code of Federal Regulations (2 CFR), State of SD Board of Regents, and University of South Dakota.

 

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will:
have a bachelor’s degree or substantial experience in Grants Accounting or a closely related profession;
have knowledge and experience with federal and state laws and regulations as they relate to finance and grants management, or ability to quickly learn;
possess knowledge of and experience with accounting principles and financial analysis;
have experience in public administration as it relates to program activities;
possess a high level of academic achievement and demonstrate a passion for learning;
be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment;
have strong communication skills and a proven track record in project management;
have the ability to research and interpret new and changing rules, statutes and policies;
have the skill to maintain accurate records and files;
exhibit proficiency in computer applications with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel and Outlook;
have experience with the Banner Financial System or other financial management system.
