Greenhouse Lead Grower
Location: Sioux Falls, SD
Schedule: Full-time position. Regular greenhouse and garden center hours, including evenings, weekends, and seasonal peak periods as needed. Occasional participation in special events and garden center activities.
Salary Range: $21.00–$26.00 per hour (DOE)

The Role
The Greenhouse Lead Grower oversees daily greenhouse operations, plant health, inventory management, and a small team of greenhouse employees. This hands-on role combines horticultural expertise, leadership, and customer service to ensure high-quality plant inventory and an exceptional shopping experience. You'll work closely with garden center leadership to plan seasonal transitions, maintain healthy crops, and support overall greenhouse success.
What You'll Do
Monitor and maintain the health and appearance of greenhouse plants, annuals, perennials, and houseplants
Manage watering schedules, plant care programs, and greenhouse maintenance activities
Identify and address plant health concerns, pests, diseases, and environmental issues
Lead, train, and support a small greenhouse team during daily operations
Receive, inspect, and organize incoming plant shipments
Help plan seasonal greenhouse layouts, merchandising displays, and inventory transitions
Assist customers with plant selection, care recommendations, and gardening questions
Collaborate with leadership on inventory needs, merchandising strategies, and greenhouse operations
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Working knowledge of plant care, watering practices, and greenhouse operations
Ability to identify common plant health issues, pests, and diseases
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to lead daily work activities and support team development
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work in indoor and outdoor environments
Ability to work weekends and seasonal peak periods
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to obtain pesticide or chemical applicator certification
Preferred Qualifications
Greenhouse, nursery, garden center, landscaping, or horticulture experience
Supervisory or team leadership experience
Experience with greenhouse growing programs and seasonal crop production
Skid loader experience or willingness to be trained
