JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appearance of school grounds, athletic fields, and outdoor facilities. This role involves routine landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, watering, snow removal, as well as minor maintenance and repair of groundskeeping equipment; ensures that all outdoor areas are safe and visually appealing for students, staff, and visitors; provides support for and assists custodial department as needed. Work is performed under general supervision and in accordance with established procedures.
Pay rate: $20.60 to $23.10/hour depending on experience

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION LEVEL: High School Diploma
SKILL LEVEL: Familiarity with computers. Ability to read chemical labels and material safety data sheets (MSDS). Ability to initiate and complete work orders. Have a valid driver’s license, be able to drive, and qualify under the District’s insurance carrier when driving a District vehicle. Must be able to obtain and keep an active Applicator’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to lift 75 pounds, climb to high and difficult places and work at those places. Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, standing and walking. Repetitive motion with wrists, hands and fingers. Frequent bending, carrying, hearing, lifting, pushing and stooping, occasional climbing, crawling and reaching. Hear and understand speech at normal office levels and on phone.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Works both indoors in a climate-controlled environment and outdoors in extreme temperatures and humidity at times. Some duties may occasionally be performed away from school grounds. Hazards: Occasionally subjected to mechanical and electrical hazards, vibrations. Atmospheric conditions occasionally include fumes and dust. Caution necessary to avoid harm from the misuse of chemicals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Regular in-person attendance.
Maintains lawns, trees, shrubs, landscaping, sidewalks, steps, entrances and performs upkeep on other areas as directed.
Sprays or trims to control weeds.
Operates lawnmowers, tractors, and snow removal equipment.
Removes trash, paper, etc. from District grounds.
Performs snow and ice removal.
Ensures that indoor and outdoor facilities are ready for use – including but not limited to turf, natural grass fields, bleachers, fencing, etc.
Installs and repairs fencing.
Assists with replacement/repair/maintenance of District sidewalks and walkways.
Assists in installing, maintaining, painting, etc. of playgrounds and parking lots. Ensures that playground safety needs are met i.e. mulch thickness, timbers intact, bolts tightened, etc.
Assists with installation and maintenance of signage.
Maintains, repairs, services or coordinates servicing of all mowers, trimmers, snow blowers and other grounds related equipment.
Works a revised schedule and substitutes for other custodial staff when necessary. Shares responsibility for holiday, extended day and weekend activities.
Assists with setup and teardown of District activities/events as needed.
Sweeps and dusts surfaces and furniture, removes and disposes of trash, replenishes supplies, cleans and polishes all interior surfaces, cleans and maintains carpets and hard surface floor coverings, moves furniture as needed.
Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
Continues personal professional growth and upgrading of skills.
Completes all trainings and other compliance requirements as assigned by designated deadline.
Respects and practices confidentiality both in and out of school with regard to records, activities, and communications relating to all students, parents/guardians, and staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
