We are looking to fill a Grounds Crew Leader/Specialist. The role directs the work of Grounds Keepers and participates in grounds maintenance, including the care of lawns, trees, flowers, shrubs, sidewalks, snow removal; and/or applying pesticides and fertilizer at the appropriate time and in a timely manner.
Work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. Will occasionally be required to work outside of the regularly established schedule, which may involve on-call time during nights and weekends at certain times of the year.

Licenses and Certifications: The incumbent must possess or have the ability to obtain a Driver's License, and a Class B CDL with airbrakes, and a commercial applicator's license within 90 days of hire.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Prior pesticide and fertilizer application experience is preferred. Prior medium and heavy equipment operation would be beneficial.
Knowledge of:
- gardening and grounds maintenance practices;
- safe use of fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides;
- landscaping techniques;
- setting forms and pouring concrete; and,
- types and varieties of trees, flowers, and plants.
Ability to:
- organize and delegate assignments;
- recognize and diagnose plant diseases;
- identify insect destruction and the necessary corrective actions;
- follow instructions, both orally and in writing;
- perform heavy lifting (50+ lbs) and physical labor; and
- operate motorized vehicles, hand and power tools, and related equipment;
This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
