This is a Full-Time 40 Hours Weekly position with the Department of Social Services. For more information on the DSS, please visit https://dss.sd.gov .
Summary:
Actively participates in grounds maintenance such as mowing, trimming, watering, spraying, planting, cultivating, landscaping, snow removal and other clean-up activities. Operates heavy equipment such as front-end loader, skid loader, telehandler, dump truck and etc.
Working Conditions:Ability to work inside and outside in all temperatures while doing physical manual labor.
Licenses and Certifications:Valid driver's license required.
State Applicators license preferred but not required.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:Knowledge of:
- equipment operation, maintenance and repair including but not limited to small engine's;
- safe use of fertilizers & herbicides; instillation and repair of underground sprinkler systems; general knowledge of landscaping, grounds maintenance and tree planting and trimming.
Skill to:
- work independently and as a team to accomplish all assigned work.
Ability to:
This position involves physical labor, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds over waist and head, hand digging and shoveling snow, working in extreme weather conditions including heat and cold, working off of ladders, scaffold and in mechanical booms.
