General Description

The Hardware Insertion Operator I is an entry-level position responsible for installing hardware components such as nuts, studs, and standoffs into metal parts using hardware insertion equipment. This role supports production operations by following work instructions, blueprints, and quality standards while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

The Hardware Insertion Operator I works under the guidance of experienced team members while developing foundational skills in machine operation, part handling, and quality inspection.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are those tasks, duties, and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job’s purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable.

Hardware Installation- Install hardware components such as nuts, studs, and standoffs into sheet metal parts using hardware insertion presses and equipment according to work instructions and specifications.

Blueprint and Work Instruction Review- Read and follow basic blueprints, work orders, and setup instructions to ensure correct hardware placement and orientation.

Machine Operation- Operate hardware insertion equipment according to established procedures while maintaining production efficiency and quality standards.

Material Handling- Load and position parts into hardware insertion equipment and remove completed parts for the next stage of production.

Quality Verification- Inspect parts to ensure hardware is installed correctly, securely, and in the proper location according to specifications.

Safety Compliance- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE and safe machine operation.

Equipment Care- Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist with routine cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment.

Team Collaboration- Work with supervisors and production team members to meet production schedules and quality expectations.

Documentation- Accurately record production information, time tracking, and job data as required by company systems.

Continuous Learning- Participate in on-the-job training to develop skills in machine setup, blueprint reading, and production processes.

education & TRAINING requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical training in manufacturing or machining preferred but not required.
• Basic ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools preferred.
• On-the-job training will be provided to learn equipment, processes, and quality standards.

work experience requirements

• 0–2 years of manufacturing or production experience preferred.
• Experience operating machinery or working with metal components is a plus.
• Ability to follow work instructions, blueprints, and quality standards.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools and measuring devices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Essential functions – physical & Mental Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
• This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing throughout the shift.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 100 pounds with team lift or mechanical assistance.
• Ability to push, pull, and position parts and materials as required during the production process.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to maintain attention to detail and focus while performing repetitive production tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and other protective equipment as required.
• Ability to wear a fit-tested respirator if required.
• Work is performed in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to noise, moving equipment, and industrial conditions.
• Ability to maintain normal memory and concentration required to follow work instructions and production procedures.

WORK ENVIroNMENT

  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
