Position(s):
Head Sideline Cheerleader Coach
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote the mission of Bishop O†Gorman Catholic Schools
- Advisor for varsity squads and sophomore squads
- Teach the cheerleaders stunts, dance routines, cheers & etc.
- Supervise the cheerleaders for State Tournaments, practices, state competition, games, potlucks and any other events assigned
- Attend a majority of the games
- Set up practices once a week during the school year and in August, practices are held every day
- Assist with and maintain uniforms – ordering uniforms, in charge of uniform closed & make certain the uniforms follow the code
- Responsible for collecting money from the cheerleaders
- Maintain the necessary paperwork for each cheerleader
- Organize cheerleader tryouts-conduct an informational meeting give 2-week notice for meeting and tryouts. Provide judges for tryouts and reserve the cafeteria or gym.
- Supervise the Dakota Bowl Extravaganza:
- Make certain cheerleaders have a dance for the extravaganza
- Arrange a camp for girls in grades 2-6
- Order T-shirts for girls, cheerleaders and advisor
- Advertise (Cheerleaders hang up signs around town)
- Provide snacks for the camp
- Order pom shakers
- Contact the marketing & communications specialist to contact the media
- Attend potlucks held each year. Contact the Development office for the dates of the potlucks.
- Attend the cheerleader coaches meeting. Contact the Activities Director for details.
- Make arrangements for transportation and lodging for state competition and choose which cheerleaders will be attending the state competition
- Summer Responsibilities:
- Arrange to have the cheerleaders attend a camp
- Arrange a conditioning program during the summer
- Be responsible for items not mentioned that becomes necessary for the welfare of the cheerleader program of the school
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Essential Qualifications:
- Willingness and ability to effectively make known the Catholic Church’s teachings through the varied ministry activities expected of this position.
- Willingness and ability to act as an outstanding personal witness to the Catholic faith and religion by living both one’s professional and personal life in accordance with the doctrines and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, as embodied in the various documents of the Roman Catholic Church, including, without limitation, the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church

- Cheerleading background
- Spot tumbling safety
- AACCA Safety Certification (must be obtained before the start of coaching)
- Fundamentals of Coaching, sports first aide
- Concussion in sports and heat illness prevention
