Job Description

Dakota Wesleyan University (DWU) invites applications for the position of Head Softball Coach. This is a twelve-month, fully benefited position that includes all aspects of leading and managing a nationally competitive program within the guidelines of the NAIA, GPAC and DWU.

Successful candidates should display great integrity, embody a coaching philosophy grounded in player development, be committed to retaining and graduating their players, and have a demonstrated commitment to the mission of DWU and our values of learning, leadership, faith, and service.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan and implement daily practices, training sessions, and team meetings
  • Support all facets of program operations, including equipment management, travel coordination, and game preparation
  • Participate in recruitment of prospective student-athletes through evaluations, communication, and campus visits
  • Assist with administrative tasks, academic monitoring, and occasional social media content
  • Help facilitate a team environment that promotes athletic, academic, and personal excellence
  • Represent Dakota Wesleyan University in a professional manner at all times
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • Strict adherence to established NAIA, conference, and university rules and regulations
  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously with consistent follow-through
  • Proven coaching success required; collegiate coaching experience preferred
  • Commitment to the mission of DWU and its values of learning, leadership, faith and service
  • Ability to work weekends as typical in collegiate athletics
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
