Job Title: Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)
Location: Bethany Lutheran Home – Sioux Falls, SD
Pay: $24.00–$28.00 per hour
Certification Required: CNA & Medication Aide
At Bethany Home, we are caring people caring for people—and we are looking for an organized, dependable, resident-focused Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to join our nursing team.
The Health Unit Coordinator plays an important role in keeping our nursing neighborhoods running smoothly. This position combines administrative and organizational responsibilities with hands-on resident care and support for the nursing team. The ideal candidate is someone who can stay organized, communicate effectively, prioritize competing needs, and step in wherever help is needed.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a central point of support and communication within the nursing unit
- Assist with maintaining, scanning, and organizing resident medical records
- Help coordinate provider visits, appointments, transportation, and related documentation
- Assist with routine nursing audits and other administrative needs
- Order, stock, and organize nursing supplies and supply rooms
- Ensure resident rooms are properly stocked and prepared for new admissions
- Assist nursing leadership with staff education and other department needs
- Support floor staff with resident care, including bathing, weights, restorative care, walking residents to meals, transfers, and other CNA duties
- Assist with medication-related duties within the scope of Medication Aide certification
- Provide CNA and/or Medication Aide coverage when staffing needs arise
- Maintain resident confidentiality and follow all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations
- Help create a positive, organized, resident-centered environment for residents, families, and staff
What We're Looking For
- Current CNA certification required
- Current Medication Aide certification required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong computer skills and ability to work with electronic medical records
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and multitasking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and remain calm when things get busy
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Flexibility and willingness to assist wherever needed
- Ability to work effectively with residents, families, nursing staff, providers, and leadership
- Understanding of resident rights, confidentiality, and the importance of preserving resident dignity
- Experience in long-term care or another healthcare setting preferred
