REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION LEVEL:

Master's degree. South Dakota certification or licensure.

EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

Evidence of at least five years of exemplary teaching experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, speaking, writing, sitting, bending, and walking are constantly required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to plan, model and provide training on targeted instructional strategies; must possess instructional technology skills, communicate effectively and relate well with students, school personnel, and parents. Have knowledge of curriculum materials, content standards and assessments.

CERTIFICATION

This position requires a valid South Dakota teaching certification with endorsements in secondary social science.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrate success working with adult learners through coaching, mentoring, or professional learning.
  • Ability to build and sustain positive professional relationships with teachers, instructional teams, and building leaders.
  • Strong knowledge of effective instructional practices across content areas.
  • Experience using multiple forms of assessment and student data to inform instructional decisions and improve student outcomes.
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers, including modeling lessons, co-teaching, and providing demonstration teaching.
  • Understanding of curriculum design, instructional planning, and differentiation to support diverse learners.
  • Knowledge and application of 21st Century learning skills (critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration, and information literacy).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the effective use of technology for communication, collaboration, and instruction.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional learning and reflective practice to improve both adult and student learning.
  • Experience using technology tools for data analysis, collaboration, and instructional planning.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Instructional Coaching and Teacher Support

  • Provide instructional coaching to teachers to strengthen classroom instruction and student engagement.
  • Collaborate with teachers to reflect on practice, identify instructional goals, and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Model, co-teach, and demonstrate effective instructional strategies appropriate for classrooms.
  • Assist teachers in crafting goals based on student-focused data as part of coaching cycles.
  • Collect data through classroom observations as part of coaching cycles.
  • Facilitate data analysis with teachers to inform instructional decisions as part of coaching cycles.
  • Support teachers in developing effective classroom management systems, routines, and learning environments.
  • Facilitate reflective conversations that honor teacher autonomy and empower educators in their praxis.

Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment

  • Support teachers in planning rigorous instruction aligned to curriculum standards and course objectives.
  • Assist teachers in designing and implementing formative and summative assessments.
  • Facilitate the analysis of student learning data to guide instructional adjustments and improve student achievement.
  • Assist teachers in selecting and using instructional resources and materials aligned to content standards.
  • Share research-based instructional strategies and best practices to support high-quality teaching.

Professinoal Learning and Collaboration

  • Support professional learning communities (PLCs) in examining student work, analyzing data, and improving instructional practices.
    Assist in designing and facilitating professional learning aligned with school and district improvement and strategic goals.
  • Model instructional practices that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application of learning.

Professinoal Responsibilities

  • Maintain consistent, positive communication with teachers, teams, and administrators.
  • Build a culture of trust and collaboration among staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all coaching interactions.


PAY INFORMATION

Starting at $52,821 to $59,485 per year, based on experience
