Job Description
As a full-time, temporary, Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP), you’ll play a critical role in managing and coordinating post-operative care for Internal Medicine patients. You will work both independently and in partnership with physicians, rounding on patients, prescribing treatments, and supporting the discharge process.
- Diagnose, treat, and provide continuous care to hospitalized post-operative patients.
- Conduct pre- and post-op assessments, rounds, and communicate directly with patients and families.
- Collaborate with surgeons on individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications and order/interpret lab tests, imaging, and diagnostics.
- Lead discharge planning and coordinate with primary care and other services.
- Document clinical care thoroughly and accurately in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Support nursing staff and other healthcare team members as needed.
Maintain active continuing education and participate in team meetings.
This is a full-time temporary position; expected from October 2025 to February 2026.
Schedule: Monday - Friday. 7:30am-4:00pm
This Hospitalist position is located at our main hospital location at 910 E 20th St. Sioux Falls, SD.

Requirements
Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of South Dakota
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications preferred (can be obtained upon hire)
- 2+ years in urgent care, emergency medicine, or family practice strongly preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients and situations
- Skilled in the use of EMR systems and standard medical software
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Familiarity with infection control procedures and emergency response
