Job Description

Dakota Wesleyan University is seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the HR department including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, compliance, and organizational development. The HR Manager ensures that HR practices support the organization’s strategic goals and foster a positive workplace culture.

Duties:

  • Oversee day-to-day HR operations, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and employment laws.

  • Manage recruitment and hiring processes for faculty, staff and student employees, including job postings, background checks, interviews, and onboarding.

  • Provide guidance and support to supervisors and employees on performance management, conflict resolution, and employee development.

  • Maintain HR records and ensure confidentiality and security of data.

  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in alignment with institutional goals and legal requirements.

  • Coordinate employee training and professional development initiatives.

  • Maintain and analyze HR metrics to inform strategic planning and decision-making.

  • Serve as a liaison for employees with benefits providers and regulatory agencies as needed.

  • Support organizational change and development projects.

  • Serve as advisor to University Administration on employment-related issues, such as performance and discipline, payroll-law compliance, termination, hiring, etc.

  • Serve as a resource for faculty, staff and student employees regarding HR policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Degree in Human Resources Management; Organizational Management; Public Administration; Business; or related field, strongly preferred.

  • Individuals must have excellent relational and organizational skills as well as strong written and verbal communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices

  • 3+ years experience in an HR environment preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products
