EXPERIENCE DESIRED:One to three years of Human Resources experience in areas that include employee onboarding, staffing, effective communication, data tracking, and information systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, speaking, hearing, use of wrists, hands, and fingers. Constant sitting, standing, or walking. Frequent keyboarding, typing, writing, and filing.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Demonstrated ability to work with people in positive manner. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience working with confidential information. Strong critical thinking skills. Excellent organizational skills. Must be technologically advanced in human resources management systems, word processing, and spreadsheets. Evening or weekend work occasionally.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES - Serves as a point of contact for employees or visitors to the Human Resources Department, provides assistance and information, answers phones, records messages, manages emails. Assists with the customer service needs of the department.
- Facilitates the criminal background check process and required recordkeeping for employees, volunteers, and contracted service providers. Rolls fingerprints as requested.
- Serves as the main contact for the District's volunteer program and conducts training for clerical staff.
- Provides support to the substitute staff coordinator position and is crosstrained in the role.
- Creates and disseminates confidential written communication to employees and applicants.
- Provides administrative support to the Senior Director of Human Resources.
- Provides assistance with employee testing functions within the Human Resources Department.
- Assists with the maintenance of Human Resources systems.
- Adds, updates, and manages current job descriptions on all platforms.
- Assists with employment verifications.
- Assists with New Employee Orientations for staff.
- Assists with new employee physical scheduling.
- Knows policies and procedures of the District and department to answer Human Resources related questions.
- Assists with coordination of Recognition Banquet and other recognition events.
- Represents the Human Resources Department at job fairs as requested.
- Processes Human Resources Department mail and distributes accordingly.
- Assists with completion of Human Resources projects and events.
- Performs "back up" duties and provides assistance for all positions in Human Resources.
- Assists with lobby desk coverage as requested.
- Performs other duties assigned.
PAY INFORMATIONSpecialist - Level KX, starting at $23.62 per hour
Pay Day: Last working day of each month.
HOURS & FTEMonday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a 1-hour unpaid break
1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, 12 months
