The
Industry Liaison Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with state, regional, and local tourism organizations, associations, CVBs, Chambers of Commerce, businesses, and other tourism industry partners. Acting as the primary point of contact, this individual will provide essential information on Travel South Dakota's co-op marketing programs, research initiatives, hospitality resources, and evolving consumer trends. They will also serve as the Indigenous Tourism and agritourism Liaison for the department.
Regular in-person visits and virtual meetings-ranging from weekly to monthly-will be used to educate and inform partners. The liaison will represent Travel South Dakota with the four regional tourism associations and attend community and regional meetings to stay updated on local marketing, tourism development projects, and regional challenges. Effective follow-up and clear communication are crucial to ensure partner needs are met and information is communicated across department teams. This position will be responsible for helping maintain and manage the tourism industry contact database and CRM program.
This role also includes the administrative oversight and compliance monitoring of multiple grants within each tourism region, ensuring all grant recipients meet their obligations. This position will also support destination development program projects in their region.

- Educational background or relevant professional experience in the tourism industry.
- Familiarity with South Dakota's history, culture, attractions, and tourism landscape.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and commonly used software platforms.
- Self-driven, forward-thinking, and capable of working independently.
- Experience creating and delivering engaging presentations.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet strict deadlines.
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50% of the time).
