The Informational Specialist will possess a commitment to service; rigorous attention to detail and the ability to work in a team oriented environment; assist with coordination and monitoring of programs such as Captive NonDomestic, National Poultry Improvement Plan, and cooperative animal health programs and disease eradication programs by maintaining work processes to deliver program services, collect and monitor statistics, evaluate effectiveness of program services and efficiency of processes, educate and inform program participants, and, where needed, recommend and support changes. With direction, analyze and evaluate work processes; devise and implement changes to achieve program efficiency; deliver needed services effectively; and negotiate resolutions to issues when no formal guidelines exist.

Also, they will assist in the design, development and maintenance of the website for the Animal Industry Board; issue permits for livestock entering the state; process mail; and monitor AIB phone messages.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Preferred: Higher Education or work experience related to the animal agriculture or animal health field.

Knowledge of:
  • principles and best practices of written and verbal communication for conveying complex information clearly and concisely;
  • methods for organizing tasks, managing deadlines, and maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment;
  • Microsoft Office Suite and Sharepoint;
  • relevant state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.

Skill to:
  • communicate tactfully and professionally with diverse individuals to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
  • gather, organize, and present program information in ways appropriate to the audience;
  • draft clear, accurate, and professional correspondence, memos, and reports.

Ability to:
  • read, interpret, and apply Animal Health program materials (e.g. bulletins, manuals, and regulations) to address inquiries and ensure compliance;
  • clearly explain program requirements in person, by phone, and in writing to diverse audiences;
  • adjust to organizational and procedural changes while working effectively under pressure and in situations with ambiguity;
  • interpret objectives and develop practical applications.
