Position Description:
The Economic Development Intern will work with each of GOED's divisions to help achieve department goals. The intern will spend time with each division to learn how they operate and will carry out tasks as assigned. This internship is specifically designed to help educate the intern on economic development and help them understand the role of GOED in South Dakota.
Duties include: communicating action items to stakeholders, assisting with Business Retention and Expansion visits and follow-up items, document preparation, social media management, assisting leadership with operational processes to facilitate daily business functions, and special projects. Strict confidentiality will be expected from the intern.
Ideal coursework involves a mixture of studies in business, economics, finance, marketing, political science, communications. and marketing.
Qualifications:
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
