Position Description:
Under the direction of the Park Manager and District Supervisor, this position is unique as the Intern gets to instruct programs district wide between several parks. Duties that are included with but not limited to are as follows: Planning and presenting programs at Roy Lake State Park, Sica Hollow State Park, Pickerel Lake Recreation Area, and Fort Sisseton State Park. Programs will be geared towards youth and adults and will include historical information to meet Parks Division annual theme, outdoor education, environmental education, games, and contests. All to enhance the park visitor experience at the various parks throughout District 1. Housing will be provided at State rate.
Qualifications:
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment.
