Position Title: Intern - Training Development Specialist
Supervisor: Derek Gustafson
Agency: Department of Labor and Regulation
Location: Statewide - Any of our Job Service Office locations.
Minimum Salary:
$17.88 per hour

*APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.

Position Description:
We are looking for a Training Development Specialist Intern to help our employees succeed and advance their skills and knowledge. Your primary role will be to develop on-demand training content for onboarding new employees and training and developing existing employees.

In this role you should be passionate about helping people learn and grow. You will gain experience with designing e-learning courses using state-of-the-art resources including cloud-based learning management system and innovative video creation tools. You will also gain relationship building experience as you will collaborate with subject experts to develop courses.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Conduct research and collaborate with subject experts.
  • Designing and developing engaging and high-quality training courses and lessons.
  • Define and document learning objectives.
  • Design content to optimize learning.

The ideal candidate will have coursework or work experience in one or more of the following: project management, online course development, instructional design, human resources, or education.

Preferred Competencies
  • creative thinking;
  • problem solving;
  • ability to build rapport with employees;
  • familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices; and
  • familiarity with online technology such as Canva, PowToon, CapCut, etc.

Qualifications:
Applicant must be enrolled as a part time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
