*APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.

Position Description:
This internship offers hands-on experience supporting a wide range of terrestrial and outdoor educational programs. Interns will have opportunities to assist with the preparation, organization, and inventory of education and outreach materials and equipment, and provide support with the planning, setup, delivery, and breakdown of education and Go Fourth programs in both office and field settings. Responsibilities will also include updating curriculum, creating simple instructional or reference materials, assisting with data tracking, documentation, basic program reporting, and supporting naturalist training programs and general program logistics as needed.

Additionally, interns will have opportunities to assist with wildlife management and damage mitigation efforts, including responding to requests related to deer and turkey depredation and potentially working independently with landowners to implement tools that reduce further damage. Additional experiences may include assisting with management of other wildlife species and collaborating with Wildlife Conservation Officers, biologists, and land managers. Successful candidate must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, effective time management, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team while staying self-motivated. Training on all tools and techniques will be provided, and ideal candidates should be comfortable operating vehicles with trailers as well as ATV/UTV off-road vehicles. Individual can expect to be able to lift items approximately 50lbs.

Qualifications:
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
