Summary:

The primary role of this position will be to ensure the community based developmental disabilities system continues to progressively evolve with the changing needs of South Dakotans with ID/DD.

This Intervention Support Specialist will contribute to the work of DDD by supporting provider service authorizations along with discharge tracking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist DDD program professionals with operational processes related to service authorization, service change requests, and discharge tracking. Monitors processes to ensure all required steps and documentation are completed in compliance with program guidelines.
  • Support DDD in gathering and standardizing data to support compliance, analysis, and reporting, and manages data collection systems.
  • Determines eligibility criteria for individuals to receive services provided by assigned programs.
  • Responsible for receiving discharge or transfer paperwork, reviewing it for accuracy, processing the request, and promptly notifying all relevant parties.
  • Review service change requests to ensure alignment with established guidelines and provide clear and effective technical assistance to stakeholders, including in situations where clarification is needed.
  • Collaborates with contracted partners to ensure compliance with requirements and timely communication, including reviewing person-centered plans and assessment data to determine eligibility for additional screening.
  • Performs other work as assigned.


This position requires some in-state travel

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Knowledge of:

  • work processes pertaining to public administration and management;
  • applicable computer software and operating systems;
  • services and supports for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities;
  • applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.


Ability to:

  • must have excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • demonstrate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • handle multiple priorities, sometimes with conflicting deadlines;
  • demonstrate strong attention to detail;
  • independently manage and prioritize workload;
  • interpret and comprehend program guidelines and procedures.
