POSITION SUMMARY

An IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing an organization's IT systems—including servers, networks, storage, and cloud environments. The Infrastructure Engineer will work with various IT professionals and business stakeholders in understanding business requirements, evaluating options, recommending solutions, and driving delivery of the envisioned solution. They ensure high availability, security, and performance of mission-critical infrastructure. Their duties span across hardware, software, networking, and cloud systems. The IT Infrastructure Engineer will also review existing processes and recommend or suggest modernization and automation opportunities that can be implemented to provide business value and improve IT efficiency and effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.

  1. Contribute to the definition of conceptual and logical architecture specifications (e.g., data architecture, application architecture, infrastructure architecture) for the enterprise as well as managing organization impacts of architecture.
  2. Ensure that enterprise architecture standards, policies, and procedures are enacted uniformly across application development and IT projects and programs.
  3. Review and document business functional and nonfunctional requirements and propose robust solutions that meet those requirements in the form of detailed specifications. Account for possible project challenges on constraints including, risks, time, resources, and scope.
  4. Develop and maintain comprehensive technical blueprints of the IT network and infrastructure topology.
  5. Design solution options that align IT services with business missions, goals, and objectives with consideration of implications and trade-offs.
  6. Design, administer and support a comprehensive data and systems backup architecture and solution that ensures recoverability in a disaster scenario.
  7. Plan, request, and implement targeted improvements to improve network performance as well as ensure it meets business needs and requirements.
  8. Lead and conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations of 3rd-party tools and products and provide selection recommendations to business.
  9. Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, automation, integration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization.
  10. Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
  11. Responsible for storage planning, capacity monitoring, and database performance.
  12. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by the supervisor to meet the needs of the department.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’S):

K

Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, networking, engineering, or a related field; or Associate’s degree in related field plus 5+ years of related IT experience is required.
  • Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of network administration, server administration, network design, storage solution design and support is required.
  • Experience working with backup and storage solutions like Cohesity, Veeam, etc.

  • Able to read, reason, and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
  • Able to respond to common inquiries from customers, vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of our business community in a professional manner.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions.

Math:

  • Able to apply advanced math concepts related to finance.
  • Able to develop budgets and track budget expenditures.

Computer:

  • Significant knowledge in operating systems, servers, storage, networking, public cloud providers, OSI, Web & Application Servers, Databases, Monitoring, Cloud technologies, Networking, and Automation frameworks (Ansible, Puppet, SCCM, Terraform).
  • Comprehensive understanding of network services and protocols such as TCP/IP, SSH, OSPF and EIGRP.
  • In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of networking systems such as WANs, LANs, firewalls, and routers.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently.
  • Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot Wi-Fi and security infrastructure.
