As a Teller, you’ll be the friendly face that helps members with their everyday banking needs. You’ll process deposits and payments, handle cash, answer questions, and help direct members to other services we offer. You’ll also learn how to maintain a balanced cash drawer, follow important procedures, and support behind-the-scenes processes that keep our credit union running smoothly. It’s a fast-paced, people-centered role where attention to detail and a positive attitude go a long way.

Position Details:
Job Title: Junior Teller
Classification: Part-Time, hourly including PTO and 401k benefits
Schedule: Monday - Friday as needed/available, and Saturdays - opportunities from 3.5-29 hours per week.
Minimum Starting Pay: $14.50-$16.00 per hour DOE
Expected Start Date: TBD
Location: Liberty Branch at 441 N. Ellsworth Road Box Elder - Will report to various branches in the Rapid City and Box Elder area as needed for coverage and training purposes.
Requirements/Preferences:
A minimum of 16 years of age.
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent or in process of obtaining.
General Purpose:
Responsible for providing exceptional member service including efficient and accurate transaction processing.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Serve members by completing account transactions.
Provide account services to members by receiving deposits and loan payments, cashing checks, issuing savings withdrawals, and recording night and mail deposits. Disburse cash or check withdrawals in person, by telephone, or by mail.
Process cash and credit card advances, Provide cashiers’ checks, money orders, and similar transactions.
Process member to member transfers as well as setting up and maintaining members’ automatic transfers and filling out ACH Origination paperwork.
Always maintain an adequate cash drawer, including buying and selling currency from the vault and or the ECD/ECR machines, as necessary. Balance cash drawer in accordance with Credit Union procedures and regulations, including periodic batching of checks.
Complete all work in compliance with applicable policy, laws, and regulations
Perform drive-up teller and night drop functions as assigned.
Accessing safety deposit boxes.
Close deceased accounts per policy.
Answer questions in person or on the telephone and refer members to other services by cross-selling Credit Union products, informing members of new services and product promotions, and when applicable, directing members to a branch representative.
Look for opportunities to better serve our members, by suggesting additional products and services.
Open and close computer terminal accounts daily, as well as informing the proper individuals when equipment is not working properly.
Receive and process changes of name, addresses, and other account information as needed.
Receive and process wires in computer system and route to proper department for FRB processing.
Verify transactions, monitor deposit amounts, complete CTR’s, and assist in the completion of SAR’s when applicable.
Examine negotiable documents for endorsement. Detect and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Comply with SFCU operations and security procedures by participating in all dual-control functions, auditing other tellers’ currency, and assisting in certification of proof.
Maintain member confidence and protect Credit Union operations by keeping information confidential.
Represent Sentinel Federal Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner that maintains and expands positive relations with all members and potential members.
Treat all Credit Union members and employees with a positive and cooperative attitude.
Ensure the confidentiality and security of all Credit Union information and documents.
Participate in all staff and departmental meetings as assigned.
Follow all Credit Union policies and procedures including but not limited to the employee handbook.
Participate in staff training and attend webinars, conferences and seminars as assigned.
Set-up profiles and make cash advances for non-members.
Cash Savings Bonds and record tax information associated with cashing Savings Bonds.
Other duties as assigned.

Ability to work within precise standardized guidelines with some latitude to make decisions and take initiative to resolve problems or unique circumstances. Ability to use a rational and organized approach to completing tasks.
