Position Summary

The Kitchen Manager is the second-in-command leader of our deli kitchen. This role is focused on daily back-of-house operations while supporting front-of-house duties and team members, supporting the Bistro Manager in running a safe, efficient, and high-quality kitchen. The Kitchen Manager leads and develops team members, ensures consistent food quality and presentation, and helps execute menu offerings that align with Pomegranate Market’s values of health, freshness, and community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support 12–15 kitchen team members, including scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Maintain a positive and productive work environment, modeling teamwork and professionalism.
  • Oversee daily production lists and assignments and food preparation to ensure consistency, efficiency, and high standards of quality.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and proper handling procedures.
  • Monitor inventory, assist with ordering, and minimize food waste while controlling costs.
  • Collaborate with the Bistro Manager on menu planning, recipe development, and seasonal offerings.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and issues are addressed promptly.
  • Step into hands-on cooking, prep, or service roles as needed to support the team.
  • Help foster a culture of creativity, excellence, and hospitality in the deli.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of kitchen leadership or supervisory experience (preferably in a deli, grocery, or fast-casual environment).
  • Strong culinary skills and understanding of natural/organic food preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to multitask and stay calm in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
