The Labor Scheduler is responsible for evaluating workforce requirements and developing effective labor schedules to support plant operations. Working under general supervision, this role ensures optimal staffing levels by coordinating labor resources, maintaining accurate workforce data, and collaborating with multiple departments to align labor planning with production demands. The Labor Scheduler plays a key role in delivering efficient staffing solutions that support operational objectives and business performance.

What You Will Do:

  • Coordinate with plant departments to ensure labor resources are utilized effectively and efficiently.
  • Develop, maintain, and adjust employee schedules based on operational needs, staffing availability, and business priorities.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot scheduling exceptions, including employee call-ins, weather-related disruptions, and other unforeseen staffing challenges.
  • Communicate staffing needs and schedule changes in a timely manner to supervisors, managers, and affected employees.
  • Partner with Production Scheduling to align labor requirements with production plans and adjust schedules as business needs change.
  • Organize and facilitate weekly labor scheduling meetings with supervisors and department leaders.
  • Identify workforce training needs that may impact scheduling effectiveness and communicate recommendations to management.
  • Coordinate shift coverage and staffing assignments by communicating directly with production employees.
  • Manage part-time workforce scheduling, ensuring available resources are effectively utilized to meet operational demands.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee information within Kronos or other workforce management systems, including:
  • Primary job assignments
  • Job transfer sets
  • Availability patterns
  • Shift assignments
  • Employee skill matrix data
  • Collaborate with supervisors, Human Resources, and temporary staffing agencies to ensure workforce records remain current and accurate.
  • Track and maintain employee vacation schedules, attendance records, and call-in data.
  • Analyze scheduling trends, labor utilization, and staffing exceptions.
  • Report scheduling metrics, workforce trends, and recommendations to the Labor Scheduling Manager.
  • Monitor employee attendance and call-in patterns and provide regular updates to Human Resources and management.
  • Recommend process improvements and staffing adjustments to optimize labor efficiency and support business objectives.
  • Serve as a key liaison between Production Scheduling, Operations, Human Resources, temporary staffing agencies, and plant leadership.
  • Communicate vacation approvals, denials, and scheduling decisions to supervisors and employees.
  • Ensure all stakeholders are informed of labor scheduling changes and workforce needs.
  • Conduct all activities in accordance with company policies, procedures, values, code of ethics, and standards of conduct.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and professional work environment.
  • Support compliance with workforce management practices and company staffing guidelines.

 What We Look For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in labor scheduling, workforce planning, manufacturing operations, human resources, or a related field.
  • Experience with workforce management systems; Kronos knowledge preferred.
  • Strong data entry and database management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic mathematical and reporting skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines while ensuring operational staffing needs are fulfilled

What We Offer:

The base salary range for this position is $60,000 to $99,000 annually with eligibility for a 5% annual incentive bonus; that is based on organizational performance. The pay range represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to education, skills, work experience, certifications, geography, etc. As such, starting pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
