Job Description

A-OX Welding Supply is looking for a Specialty Gas Laboratory Technician to join our growing Specialty Gas Division. This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys a combination of hands-on production work and analytical laboratory testing. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and filling compressed gas cylinders, performing gas analysis, and verifying product quality to ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

The Specialty Gas Laboratory Technician plays a critical role in delivering high-quality specialty, medical, and food-grade gas products while supporting A-OX's reputation for excellence and reliability.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and fill compressed gas cylinders and specialty gas mixtures.
  • Perform gas analysis using advanced laboratory instrumentation.
  • Verify product quality and maintain accurate production and laboratory documentation.
  • Support compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the Specialty Gas Division.
  • Develop specialized technical skills through structured training and career advancement opportunities.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent analytical laboratory experience.
  • Experience operating analytical instrumentation, preferably gas chromatography.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory practices, data integrity, and quality assurance principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and laboratory data management systems.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to routinely lift and move 25-75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, grasping, crouching, and repetitive motion required.
  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience analyzing compressed gases, specialty gases, medical gases, or food-grade gases.
  • Hands-on experience with gas chromatographs utilizing TCD, DID, FID, or other common detector technologies.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, FDA requirements, CGA standards, or other regulated laboratory environments.
  • Experience with method validation, calibration, statistical analysis, and measurement uncertainty concepts.
  • Prior experience in industrial gas manufacturing, specialty gas production, or laboratory quality systems.
