DESCRIPTION

You are responsible for all duties performed by the housekeeping department. You supervise laundry and room attendants, and are responsible for the cleaning of the hotel guest rooms and common areas, as well as interviewing, training, and motivating all housekeeping staff in accordance with Company policies and procedures.  You, along with the general manager, assistant general manager and/or guest service manager, are also responsible for housekeeping and laundry inventory.  You may be asked to perform other duties, from time to time, which are not stated in this job description.
 
Immediate Supervisor: The general manager is your immediate supervisor.  In the absence of the general manager, the assistant general manager and/or guest service manager (whichever is applicable to the hotel) is your immediate supervisor.  In the absence of your immediate supervisors, the Director of Operations assigned to the hotel is available to answer questions.
 
Dress Code: You must wear a uniform with a name tag (provided by the Company) which only uses your first name, and closedtoe shoes of appropriate nature (athletic shoes are not acceptable).  All employees must wear the same color combinations.  You will be furnished with two uniforms (if you would like more than two uniforms, you must pay for additional ones).  You are responsible for maintaining the condition and cleanliness of your uniforms.  Follow the washing instructions tag attached to each uniform.  If your uniform is torn or damaged due to normal use, your uniform will be replaced or repaired as needed.  When you receive your uniforms, you must sign an authorization form.  By signing this form, you are acknowledging that you have received the uniforms for use while employed at the hotel and have authorized the hotel to deduct $15.00 from your final pay for each uniform damaged due to your intentional acts or not returned to the hotel when employment ends

12. Is able to operate a 10 key adding machine.
13. Is able to operate front desk computer (Property Management System).
14. Possesses knowledge of accounting basics.
15. Displays good judgment and common sense.
16. Strives to maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and staff.
17. Is able to speak and read effectively in the English language.
18. Complies with BBP, OSHA, and Hazcomm 2012 standards.  Knows the potential hazards of any chemicals used and the proper personal protective equipment required. Uses personal protective equipment as directed by Safety Data Sheets.
 
Essential job duties and responsibilities:
 
1. Has the ability to report to work on time.

7. Answers any questions about the hotel and community, is knowledgeable about the location of attractions, restaurants, shopping, churches, and answers complaints or concerns by the guests. 
8. Is part of the hotel’s security team and is responsible for immediately reporting any potential safety or security hazards to immediate supervisor.
9. Has the ability to lead and manage others.
10. Supervises housekeeping and laundry duties following directions given by the immediate supervisor.
11. Continually trains all room attendant staff in all their duties, including BBP, OSHA, and Hazcomm 2012 standards, fire safety and security procedures.  Also informs housekeeping staff of rules, regulations and Company policies and procedures.
12. Advises immediate supervisor of personnel problems and recommends appropriate disciplinary action.
13. Evaluates employees on job performance.
14. Prepares daily cleaning schedule for room attendants.
15. Prepares room status report of guest rooms with the guest services representative.
16. Inspects all guest rooms and public areas of the hotel daily.
17. Inspects each guest room for bed bugs and other pests.
18. Reports any maintenance problems immediately to immediate supervisor and maintenance person.
19. Responsible for controlling payroll costs and other operational expenses (cleaning and laundry supplies, chemical usage, utilities, linens, etc.) as directed.
20. Assures that room attendant staff is in compliance with dress code.
21. Attends regular meetings with the general manager concerning the operations of the hotel.
22. Does room attendant's and laundry person's duties as required (see Room Attendant and Laundry Job Descriptions).
23. Complies with BBP, OSHA, and Hazcomm 2012 standards.

b. Enforces the use of personal protective equipment to the room attendant and laundry staff as directed by the Safety Data Sheets.
 
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
 
1. Cleans guest rooms as required (see Room Attendant Job Description).
2. Strips linens as required (see Room Attendant Job Description).
3. Completes monthly inventory of all linens, guest room supplies, and cleaning supplies as directed.
4. Coordinates the ordering of necessary linens and supplies with immediate supervisor.
