SERVICE: Childcare & Education Services, Southern Hills, Hilltop and Here4Youth

HOURS: Part-time, Monday - Friday, 20- 25 hours per week during the school year. 40 hours in summertime.

SALARY: $20-$21 per hour, dependent on experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES: LSS Childcare & Education Services offers engaging after school experiences for students in grades K-5 that make learning fun! We are seeking part-time professionals to help care for a great group of kids after school at LSS. We have three locations in Sioux Falls: Southern Hills – 3400 E 49th Street; Hilltop – 1312 S Bahnson Ave; Here4Youth – 300 E 6th Street (Here4Youth serves special needs students). The Lead Teacher/Coordinator is responsible for daily program oversight at the LSS Southern Hills After-School and Summer Program. This position will serve as the point person when students are present, ensuring classrooms are set up and ready upon student arrival, closed at the end of the day, communication with parents, intervening in student behavior issues and ensuring assistant teachers are following the daily activity plans according to schedule. Will work in ratio as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old and able to complete orientation training according to agency program standards.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience working with youth for at least 6 months preferred.
  • Preference for candidates who have the South Dakota OST certificate. Candidates must achieve OST certification within six months of hire (LSS will allow time to do this during the work week).
  • A valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one for approved driver status.
  • Must successfully complete all agency background checks, which include checks for criminal convictions, behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, and drug or sex crimes.
