POSITION SUMMARY
The Learning & Development Specialist is a key member of the Human Resources team, supporting the growth and engagement of Lloyd Companies team members by coordinating onboarding experiences, leading onboarding and training within the Construction division, and managing key learning and development initiatives. This role owns and delivers programs that strengthen culture and leadership across the organization, including the Mentor Program, Buddy Program, CliftonStrengths workshops, and leadership development sessions.
This individual supports onboarding company-wide, leads onboarding for the Construction division, and facilitates training on core systems and tools. They will be formally trained and certified to lead CliftonStrengths sessions, helping foster team effectiveness and self-awareness across the organization.
As a member of the HR team, the Learning & Development Specialist will handle sensitive employee information and must maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion. Occasionally, this person may assist with general HR tasks and initiatives as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Onboarding Support
- Lead onboarding for the Construction division, including scheduling, orientation, and role-specific training.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new hires in Construction, helping them integrate into the team and navigate company systems.
- Coordinate training on essential software tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, Vista, and other project-related platforms.
- Coordinate system access, equipment, and onboarding materials for Construction hires in partnership with HR and IT.
- Support onboarding processes across the company, including preparing schedules, documentation, and orientation logistics.
- Assist in the delivery of day-one orientation as needed, providing a consistent and welcoming experience.
CliftonStrengths Facilitation
- Lead CliftonStrengths workshops for individuals and teams across the organization.
- Become formally trained and certified in CliftonStrengths facilitation (or maintain existing certification).
- Guide teams and individuals through the application of strengths to improve communication, collaboration, and engagement.
- Support integration of CliftonStrengths into team development and leadership initiatives.
Learning & Development Programs
- Own and manage the Mentor and Buddy Programs, ensuring strong engagement, thoughtful pairings, and ongoing support.
- Coordinate and manage “Leading the Lloyd Way” sessions including scheduling, communications, and logistics.
- Support the development and launch of the “Emerging Leaders Program”, assisting with curriculum creation, event coordination, and tracking.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between development programs and company values.
Training Coordination & Support
- Assist in developing and maintaining training resources, SOPs, and user guides.
- Provide support and guidance for employees using core systems (e.g., SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, HRIS platforms).
- Work with subject matter experts to prepare and deliver internal training.
- Track training participation and gather feedback to continuously improve the learning experience.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve onboarding and training processes.
Administrative, HR, and Operational Support
- Coordinate logistics for learning events, including venue setup, materials, scheduling, and communication.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to onboarding, training, and development.
- Provide administrative support to Construction leadership as needed (calendar, meetings, travel).
- As part of the HR team, support other HR generalist tasks as needed, including project-based work and team initiatives.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and company information at all times.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- CliftonStrengths certification (or willingness to become certified upon hire) is required.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills; able to lead group and individual sessions.
- Ability to proactively and strategically plan 12 – 18 months ahead, including program content, timing, and evolving organizational needs.
- Comfortable using data and metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and guide improvements.
- Experience supporting or delivering learning and development programs.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, and cloud-based platforms.
- Familiarity with systems such as Procore, Bluebeam, or Vista is a plus.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
- Team-oriented, approachable, and enthusiastic about helping others grow.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree preferred; 2 – 4 years of experience in training coordination, onboarding, employee engagement, or a related HR/people role.
